Alameda Kickboxing Lessons

Professor Sergio Silva is a third degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu a Former World Champion in Submission Wrestling and a Multiple times National and International Champion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Also undefeated in Mixed Martial Arts as a professional fighter.

Professor Sergio Silva has been training Martial Arts since 1982 when he was 5 years of age he started practicing Judo with his uncle at the Dojo Mokayko Judo Academy in Curitiba,Parana -Brasil.
In 1990 professor Silva start practicing formal Muay Thai classes as well as Capoeira classes.
In 1991 Sergio Silva really started focusing in Kickboxing and boxing training.
In 1994 Sensei Silva started working with professor Fabio Noguchi and started to study with amateur and professional Muay Thai fighters helping them get ready to fight.
Professor Sergio Silva in the year of 2006 brought a Muay Thai teacher from Chute Boxe Academy to teach and help our dojo with striking practice.
In the same year Sergio took over 35 private lessons of boxing and over 45 privates in Professional muay Thai Fitness training in Brazil.

Vinyasa All Levels

Vinysasa yoga is a vigorous series of postures linked with movement that will open and cleanse your body, strengthen and lengthen your muscles, and calm, soothe, and open your mind. “All levels” means that if you’ve never practiced or you’re an experienced practitioner, you’ll feel at home, challenged, and at ease. And always remember, no matter where you are on your yogic path, listen to your body and rest when you need to in child’s pose.

Much like other types of childbirth-preparation classes, prenatal yoga is a multifaceted approach to exercise that encourages stretching, mental centering and focused breathing. Research suggests that prenatal yoga is safe and can have many benefits for pregnant women and their babies. For example, studies have suggested that prenatal yoga can:

Improve sleep

Reduce stress and anxiety

Increase the strength, flexibility and endurance of muscles needed for childbirth

Decrease lower back pain, nausea, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches and shortness of breath

Decrease the risk of preterm labor, pregnancy-induced hypertension and intrauterine growth restriction - a condition that slows a baby's growth

Prenatal yoga can also help you meet and bond with other pregnant women and prepare for the stress of being a new parent.

What happens during a typical prenatal yoga class?

A typical prenatal yoga class may involve:

Breathing. You'll be encouraged to focus on breathing in and out slowly and deeply through the nose. You may also practice different breathing techniques and making deep sounds, such as humming or grunting. Prenatal yoga breathing techniques may help you reduce or manage shortness of breath during pregnancy and work through contractions during labor.

Gentle stretching. You'll be encouraged to gently move different areas of your body, such as your neck and arms, through their full range of motion.

Postures. While standing, sitting or lying on the ground, you'll gently move your body into different positions aimed at developing your strength, flexibility and balance. Props - such as blankets, cushions and belts - may be used to provide support and comfort. You'll also continue to focus on your breathing.

Cool down. At the end of each prenatal yoga class, you'll relax your muscles and restore your resting heart rate and breathing rhythm. You'll be encouraged to sit down and gently stretch different parts of your body.

Relaxation. You may be encouraged to listen to your own breathing, pay close attention to sensations, thoughts and emotions, or repeat a mantra or word to bring about a state of self-awareness and inner calm.

Mama & baby yoga class (Pre-Walkers) provides an opportunity for you to regain strength and flexibility, to bond with your baby and to make friends with other mamas. The focus of the class is on movements breathing specifically tailored for new mamas. Focusing on the shoulders, back, pelvic floor and the core. The babies benefit from the bonding time with mom, and the stimulating environment of new baby friends! Pre walking babies welcome.

Hatha Yoga- the practice of asana is a physical form of yoga. Essential to practicing the postures is breath control, focus, and relaxation; and many physical and mental benefits accrue as a result of these. The breath control and concentration each posture demands ensures that we slow down and experience our inherent calmness. All in all, after yoga practice we feel great and suddenly have a new awareness and clarity of thought. We see and respond to life differently. Go deeper into the understanding and strive to gain more self-understanding through your hot yoga practice!

Physical Education back in Brazil and he started teaching Judo and PE to pre school kids back in 1993 when professor Silva was a brown belt in Judo in Curitiba,Parana-Brazil.

About Us

Welcome to our academy. My name is Sergio Silva and I have been teaching Brazillian Jiu-jitsu in the Bay Area since 1999 when I emigrated to the United States.
 
At our academy we emphasize respect without submissiveness. I respect my students as the individuals that they are with a focus on their development as martial artists and people.
 
I am a 4th degree Black Belt in Brazillian Jiu-jitsu, 1st degree Black Belt in Judo and have participated and won Brazillian Jiu-jitsu tournaments at the black belt level, submission wrestling tournaments and MMA matches.

I am a former World Champion of submission wrestling and multiple times NAtional and International Champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts
 
I began my martial arts training at 4 years old with my uncle who was a judo Professor Edgar Barreto in my home town of Curitiba, Brazil. 
 
I began training in Brazillian Jiu-jitsu at age 13 at the Carlson Gracie Guardian Academy, also in Curitiba, Brazil
 
We moved to our current location on Park St with my wife Rebecca’s Yoga Alameda Studio in 2014.
