Now days professor Silva leads a Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts academy in Alameda,California.Team Silva Martial Arts Academy stabilize itself in the year of 2012 in Alameda.Professor Silva has trained and
teach the World's UFC Champions like Shogun Rua,anderson Silva among many others.

The idea now is to teach and help our young generation to learn the importance of defend themselves as well help the teens and seniors to get into their bodies through Martial Arts and Yoga.
Kevin Miyamoto was working in his company’s office, “Sun’s Free Solar,” on Times Way when he heard scratching on the door. He thought it might be his friend and business partner, Kevin Good, fooling around.

He opened the door and surprised a graffiti vandal writing something on the front door. When the vandal tried to slam the door on him, Miyamoto realized this was no joke.

At first Miyamoto didn’t see the vandal. He alerted Good, who called 911.

When Miyamoto confronted the vandal, the culprit made a fist. That’s when Miyamoto employed a skill he learned right here in Alameda.

He chased the vandal and brought him down with a move Sergio Silva taught him at his school on Lincoln Avenue. “Kevin (Miyamoto) did the right thing,” Silva said. “He brought the culprit down without causing him any pain.” Just about then APD arrived and slapped the cuffs on the vandal.

Kevin Miyamoto demonstrates the hold he put on the graffiti vandal (played by his business partner Kevin Good) while Miyamoto’s Jiu-Jitsu instructor Sergio Silva looks on proudly.

I have been with Sergio Silva since 2003 when it was in a smaller location. I have STAYED with him because its become my family!!! Sergio, the owner is like a brother to me, and ALL of the students are my brothers, and sisters... The mutual respect that resonates in the academy is like NOTHING I have ever experienced in all my years in this sport. If you want to learn basic Jiujitsu, and train at a low key pace, and don't want to worry about getting hurt by a tough guy, this is the right place, as they/ WE train to learn..not to beat one another to death...
